Shillong, Sept 25: United Democratic Party (UDP) candidate, Balajied Synrem today filed his nomination for the by-poll to the Shella assembly constituency.
Synrem who is the son of Late Dr Donkupar Roy filed his nomination before the District Election Officer at Sohra, and was accompanied by UDP chief Metbah Lyngdoh, along with a group of supporters. His mother along with UDP MLAs Lahkmen Rymbui and Nujorki Sungoh, NPP MLA Sniawbhalang Dhar, UDP MDC Titos Chyne and party vice president Allantry Dkhar were also present during the process of nomination.
The by-poll to the Shella assembly constituency will be held on October 21 and the counting of votes will be held on October 24.
According to the notification of the Election Commission of India, the notification for the by-poll will be given on September 23, while the last date of filing of nomination papers is September 30.
The scrutiny of the nomination papers will be held on October 1 and the last date of withdrawal of candidature is October 3.
