SHILLONG, Feb 3: The United Democratic Party (UDP) on Monday served show cause notices to two of its Members of District Council (MDCs) in the Khasi Hill Autonomous District Council(KHADC), for extending support to Chief Executive member (CEM) Latiplang Kharkongor.
It may be mentioned that Paul Lyngdoh and Teiborlang Pathaw who are part of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) shifted to the United Democratic Forum (UDF), the alliance currently in power in the KHADC.
UDP, general secretary, Jemino Mawthoh said that the party which met here on Monday evening decided to give the two, 24 hours time to reply to the show cause notices.
Mawthoh said that the show cause notices will be sent on Monday evening itself.
The general secretary of the party said that any further action on the duo will be taken only after receiving their replies.
“We have to go through the procedures as pointed in our party’s constitution. Anyone who violates it we will give them opportunities to clarify,” Mawthoh added.
He also said that the party was distressed seeing at the prevailing situation in the KHADC.
“We wanted the imposition of Administrator’s Rule in the KHADC, but certain situations that are prevailing in the state it could not be done,” Mawthoh said.
