Vegetable wholesale market closed for violating protocols

SHILLONG, Jul 10: The East Khasi Hills district administration has for the time being suspended the functioning of the temporary vegetable wholesale market which was functioning from the Shillong Municipal Board Parking Lot, Mawlonghat.

The East Khasi Hills, Deputy Commissioner, Matsiewdor War Nongbri said that the temporary wholesale vegetable market is causing “severe overcrowding and congestion”, thereby resulting in violation of norms, protocols and advisories of the Health and Family Welfare Department’s on social distancing.

Nongbri in the order said the temporary vegetable market will be closed until further orders.

“A site inspection will immediately be instituted for fresh arrangement of seating and regulation thereof in line with health procedures and protocols for containment of COVID-19 pandemic,” the Deputy Commissioner said.
