Won’t charge interest from farmers for Mar-Aug: Agriculture Min

Shillong, Aug 5: Meghalaya Government, on Wednesday, announced that they won’t be charging interest from farmers availing loans for the months of March to August 2020 under the Kisan Credit Card Scheme.

Agriculture Minister Banteidor Lyngdoh said that even after August, if the farmers are unable to repay the loan, interest will not be charged but they will have to pay the Principal Amount.

Lyngdoh added that he held a “fruitful” meeting with the bank on COVID-19 Relief Financial Package for farmers.

He also said that he held the agricultural department will work jointly with financial institutions to create awareness – through advertisements – on how to avail loans through KCC and PM Kisan Scheme.
