Shillong, Dec. 13: In a mine tragedy in East Jaintia Hills (EJH), around 13 persons including three local of Lumthari were trapped inside the coal mine at Ksan near Lyteiñ river under Saipung police station.
According to sources, some of the miners who were trapped could have died in the incident.
According to Superintendent of Police East Jaintia Hills, Sylvester Nongtnger said the mine.appeared to be the old and old one.
“Recently about three to four days resumed the work. Due to the over flowing of water, the dead bodies are still trapped inside and there is no sign of dead bodies that could be seen,” the SP said.
According to Nongtnger, the water is being pumped up with the help of a generator and is in progress and effort is on to identify the mine owner.
He also said, a case is being registered against the owner.

Samsul Haque – Kurihamari, PS-Bhangnamari, Nalbari, Assam, Chal Dkhar, of Lumthari, East Jaintia Hills, Iong Dkhar of Lumthari, EJH and Nilam Dkhar of Lumthari, EJH.
