15-year-old girl rescued from West Bengal

Shillong, Mar 14: A 15-year-old girl missing from Laitkor Village in East Khasi Hills since March 12th was rescued by CID along with West Bengal Police from Cooch Behar on Saturday.

It was reported that initially the number which was used to track the missing girl was incorrect and the girl was still thought to be in Shillong. On Friday, the CID was informed of the case and assistance was sought in tracking the girl.

According to police, it was later realised that the girl was using a different number. The number was then tracked to Cooch Behar in West Bengal.

The CID got in touch with SP Cooch Behar, Santosh Nimbalkar who activated his team in Buxirhat Police Station. A team led by Inspector Kashyap effected the search and the girl was rescued safely.

A case under section 363 (kidnapping) of the Indian Penal Code was registered at Lumdiengjri Police Station.
