Shillong, May 1: The Joint Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya, Health and Family Welfare Department has informed that the 25 new ambulances procured by the State Government is funded by the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for COVID-19 in the month of April 2020.
In a press release issued today, the Joint Secretary said that the State Government has been on the look out to procure new ambulances in view of the COVID-19 crisis since there was no active sale of automobiles in the country during the lockdown period in April and said that after much effort, persistence, urgency and support from GVK/EMRI Uttar Pradesh, the 25 ambulances were procured from Uttar Pradesh.
Informing the general public that the ambulances are transferred from the surplus fleet of 108 Emergency Medical Transport Services, UP (East), the Joint Secretary said that the ambulances procured are new, fabricated with essential medical equipments and in good condition.
The registration numbers of the 25 ambulances are UP32MN 7539, UP32MN 7541, P32MN 7543, UP32MN 7545, UP32MN 7546, UP32MN 7547, UP32MN 7548, UP32MN 7549, UP32MN 7550, UP32MN 7551, UP32MN 7552, UP32MN 7553, UP32MN 7554, UP32MN 7558, UP32MN 7559, UP32MN 7560, UP32MN 7561, UP32MN 7598, UP32MN 7601, UP32MN 7602, UP32MN 7605, UP32MN 7606, UP32MN 7608, UP32MN 7610 and UP32MN 7613.
The total price of the 25 ambulances is Rs 45,000,000/- at the rate of Rs. 18,00,000/- per ambulance and the Joint Secretary further stated that the mileage of these ambulances may also be checked by anyone to ascertain that these have not been used earlier.
