Shillong, Apr 15: The Joint Director, Meghalaya Board of School Examination, M. Marbaniang today informed that a total of 36,685 candidates from Arts, Science, Commerce stream and Elementary School Teachers will appear for the Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) starting April 16.
Marbaniang said that in the Arts Stream there are 26402 candidates, in Science stream there are 3761 candidates and in the Commerce stream there are 2336 candidates.
Also another 4186 Elementary and School Teachers will be appearing in this examination.
He also informed that there are 104 examination centres which includes 65 in Khasi & Jaintia Hills region and 39 in Garo Hills region.
For the Elementary and School Teachers, there are 12 centres – eight in Khasi & Jaintia Hills and four in Garo Hills.
The Joint Director MBOSE informed that all necessary protocols have been put in place to ensure the safety of the candidates.
He said that in case during the course of the examination a candidate is found to have tested positive for the virus, the examination hall will be sanitised and closed down and another hall reserved in case of any eventuality will be used for the next examination.
Marbaniang said that as per the directive of the Health department the rest of the premises of the centre will continue to function as it is.
He also informed that the candidate who tested positive will be given another chance to appear for the papers that they did not appear for at a later stage.
