40 persons recover from COVID in Meghalaya, 28 fresh cases

Shillong, Apr 11: Meghalaya saw a dip in COVID-19 cases after 40 persons recovered from the virus on Sunday even as the state recorded 28 fresh cases.

Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War informed that the total number of active cases as on Sunday is 190 and 13933 has recovered from the virus.

Dr. War said that of the 28 new cases East Khasi Hills recorded 26 (Armed Force/Paramilitary Force – four, others – 22), East Jaintia Hills and Ri-Bhoi district one each.

Of the 40 new recoveries East Khasi Hills recorded 18 (Armed Force/Paramilitary Force – three, others – 15), West Garo Hills 21 and Ri-Bhoi – one.

East Khasi Hills district remains the most affected with 156 active cases (Armed Forces/Para Military Forces – 18, others – 138), Ri-Bhoi 14, West Jaintia Hills and West Garo Hills districts – six each, East Jaintia Hills – five, West Khasi Hills – two and South West Khasi Hills – one.

The vaccination achievement for health care workers till Sunday afternoon is 22,582 for the first dose and 15,872 received their second dose.

Dr. War said that the vaccination achievement for frontline workers date is 33,255 (first dose) and 20,920 (second dose).

The vaccination achievement for general public based on the eligible age group is 49,921 (first dose) and 3,515 (second dose).

The Director of Health Services informed that the total number of persons tested till date is 4,21,655 out of which 4,07,382 were negative for the virus and 14273 are confirmed cases.
