Shillong, Aug 8: A 58-year-old diabetic senior government official successfully recovered from COVID-19 at NEIGRIHMS.
The patient was a returnee, informed the institute, who had been referred from Civil Hospital, Shillong on July 13 as a case of fever and breathlessness (acute respiratory distress).
“He is a known diabetic on insulin therapy and a known hypertensive. On admission his RT-PCR was positive for COVID-19 and his CT scan showed features of covid lung damage,” statement from NEIGRIHMS read.
The patient was was admitted in the high dependent unit (HDU) and treated conservatively with Oxygen, Low molecular weight heparin (LMWH), dexamethasone and antibiotics and his condition improved and transferred to covid isolation ward when asymptomatic the medications were stopped on August 1.
“He remained asymptomatic was discharged today after his last two RT-PCR’s became negative,” it read.
