Shillong, Apr 30: The Meghalaya Government, on Thursday, announced that they have decided to permit the movement of all its citizens residing in various North-Eastern states. This will come into effect from May 5.
The announcement came a day after the Ministry of Home Affairs issued guidelines for the inter-state movement of stranded migrants, students and tourists.
Those who intend to return will have to register online at http://meghalayaonline.gov.in/covid on or before 4th of May, 2020.
Individuals who do not have internet access can call 81320-11037/ 84330-38716 / 97115-44148/ 73385-50288 between 9AM to 8 PM on any day before 4th April, 2020 to register.
The state government also informed that for citizens stranded in the other states outside the North-East India, the registration process will be announced as soon as confirmation is received from Government of India about resumption or arrangement of air and rail travel services.
According to the order issued by MHA on Wednesday, the state will be required to designate nodal authorities and develop standard protocols for receiving and sending stranded persons.
It was stated that only asymptomatic persons will be allowed to travel and transportation would be via road. It said that only buses should be used for the transport of group of persons.
And on arriving at their destination, the passengers will be assessed by local health authorities and kept in home quarantine or institutional quarantine.
