Another alleged case of nepotism in MPSC

SHILLONG, Jan 22: In another case of alleged nepotism in the Meghalaya Public Service Commission (MPSC) a candidate was selected for a government post wihout fulfilling his criteria as put up by the Commission.

It may be mentioned that for the post of District Sports Officer in the Directorate of Sports Youth Affairs, one of the candidate selected for the post did not fulfill the eligibility criteria.

It may be mentioned that as per the Advertisement – No. MPSC/ADVT-38/1/2014/1 dated 17 th /June/2014 in serial No. 6 for the post of District Sports Officer in the Directorate of Sports & Youth Affairs, Meghalaya, Shillong. The eligibility criteria was for a candidate who possessed a Bachelor’s Degree in any stream including BPE/BPEd from any recognised Indian University/Institutes or Graduate with Diploma in Coaching from NSNIS Patiala, or its subsidiary regional Institutes.

But one of the candidates did not fulfil this criteria.

“He did not fulfil even the basic criteria. How did he applied for the post?,” an aggrieved said.

According to one of the candidate the selected person was only a coach.

“The selected candidate did not even fulfil the basic criteria required. There are many other coaches who did not fulfill thisd criteria and therefore did not apply for this post,” the aggrieved candidate said.

They alleged that the said person might have some kind of political backing therefore he was appointed to the shock of many eligible candidates.

  1. One need to have a microscopic analysis on this by separating Employment from Corruption which the big big talkers & walkers seldom do. Both are Co affected but not Co related, one must simply understand why there is employment problem bcoz there is no 100% jobs in Govt Institutions,
AND why there is a corruption it is a big “?”
Corruption takes place even in other areas of Govt business/subjects not only in the area of employment, the question is how does corruption takes place, why does it takes place and who encourages it? Is there any concrete answer to this? A small solution to this be perhaps, enhancement of numbers of jobs and placement in the right earnest.

  2. Not even poking at corruption and nepotism yet.

Another point of thought. While for various jobs such extravagant qualifications are required with a requirement of so much experience. And then after, theres also age limit. Just imagine studying for so much degree and getting the required experience just to be declined because by the time you achieve all this you are over aged.

  3. Political backup can be proven nowadays and the political leader concerned should be answerable if the allegations are true. These aggrieved candidates should fight, come forward and prove that. If it cant be proven then no point in putting allegations. And perhaps it was genuine selection.

  4. If a government functionary who is placed in the MPSC is reading this, know that if there is any hanky panky with the upcoming Meghalaya Civil Services (Mains) Examination, we the deserving candidates will not hesitate one bit to move the High Court and mobilise mass support through the state’s pressure groups. We will not allow our rights to be played with.

  5. Oh these things are not new in Meghalaya….we non tribals suffer a lot coz of these bull shits…calling us dkhar…evn if we r eligible for this post… We’ll not evn be bothered….in every govt offices they get a job doing nothng…jz sitting n having tea n jingbam…n wearing matchy clothes..n if we go for some official work they show attitude as if they have landed frm moon…they can only show their power here let them leave northeast…them they ll know the real crux of everything…
