Shillong, May 31: Meghalaya Police informed that Battalion Constable posted in Delhi Roningson Khartangmaw is undergoing treatment in LNJP Hospital. His family had alleged that he wasn’t receiving medical care despite being in the hospital for two days.
Although there has been no official statement regarding the nature of his illness, police stated that he was kept under isolation in Wazirabad after reporting sick on May 22nd.
However, they added that since he was not recovering, the constable was referred to LNJP Hospital in the capital. He was placed under quarantine at the hospital on May 28.
“It is also stated that as the police official is under quarantine in the hospital, attendants could not be provided to him…the unit doctor of the Battalion is constantly in contact with the medical officials of the hospital, who are treating the official of the department and as of today, the official is convalescing,” GK Ïangrai, Assistant Inspector General of Police (A) stated.
Ïangrai added that further tests will be conducted to ascertain whether the official will be fit to be discharged in the coming days.
He also added that the commandant and company commanders of the Battalion are in contact with the official. “As a preventive measure battalion officials who camr into direct contact with the patient are also placed under isolation,” he stated.
“Meghalaya Police is closely monitoring and coordinating with the officials of the department at Delhi and his return to Meghalaya will be depending upon the clearance from the authorities of the hospital, which is as per the established protocols,” he added.
