Shillong, March 11: The ongoing budget session of the State Assembly has been cut short to March 14.
As per the earlier schedule, the budget session which commenced from March 8 should continue till March 22.
The Business Advisory Committee held a meeting after today’s session and it decided to shorten the session to March 14.
According to commissioner and secretary of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly, Andrew Simons the session was shortened due to the Lok Sabha election scheduled to be held on April 11, 2019.
On Tuesday, the Meghalaya Chief Minister, Conrad K Sangma who also hold the Finance portfolio will pass present the Budget Estimates for the year 2019-20.
Earlier, the presentation of the Budget was scheduled for March 13.
However, the assembly notification circulated to the media informed that the budget will be presented on March 12.
On March 13, the Chief Minister will reply to the discussion on the Budget.
