Jowai, Feb 4: Chief Minister Conrad Kongkal Sangma Tuesday strongly refuted allegations against Home Minister and on reports of illegal transportation of coal in Jaintia Hills, saying that such reports were absolutely rubbish.
“There is no question of illegal transportation of coal on in Jaiñtia hills,” Conrad Sangma told reporters today in Jowai.
According to Chief Minister, the law of the land is being strictly applied in terms of coal transportation.
“If there is any coal being transported, these are being done legally,” he said.
On the reports that several Cabinet Ministers aren’t happy with the Home Minster over his inability to stop illegal transportation of coal as well over the law and order situation, Conrad defended Home Minister, James Sangma.
“There can be any number of “opinions” about the Home Minister, but the department has being doing a “good job,” the Chief Minister said while defending his elder brother.
He further pointed out that during different phases of agitation the Home department has brought things under control and not a single life was lost.
The Chief Minister further said, “the Home department gets the flak for everything, but it’s doing a wonderful job.”
