Conrad appoints Lapang as chairman NECC

Shillong, January 22: National People’s Party President Conrad K Sangma has appointed Dr DD Lapang as the chairman of the party’s North Eastern Coordination Committee.

“I am happy to inform you that I have appointed you as chairman of the North East Coordination Committee,” Conrad said in a letter to Lapang dated the 14 January.

The appointment of Lapang as chairman of NECC came ahead of the Lok Sabha poll slated this spring.

A five-time former chief minister of Meghalaya, Lapang, had quit the Congress and joined the ruling National People’s Party (NPP) on 11 December, 2018.

Lapang at present is holding the post of chief adviser to the MDA government.
