SHILLONG, May 26: Chief Minister and national president of the National People’s Party (NPP), Conrad Kongkal Sangma, rebutted allegations that a FIR was filed against Home Minister, James K Sangma and Agatha K Sangma.
It may be mentioned that Congress candidate for the Ampati by-poll, Miani Dalbot Shira, has lodged a complaint against James and South Tura MLA, Agatha alleging them of violating the model code of conduct while campaigning in Ampati.
According to Conrad the letter was not an FIR but only a complaint to the police.
“During elections such kind of allegations will always be there. There are also persons who would take advantage and try to isrupt the pol process, Conrad.
The Chief Minister has also directed the police to be vigilant and to letthe election process pass on smoothly.
He also exuded confidence that NPP candidate Clement G Momin would win the Ampati by-poll.
Conrad also said that the electorates of Ampati constituency are smart enough and would elect a person who would represent them in the ruling and not in the opposition.
He also alleged that former Chief Minister, Dr Mukul Sangma who represented Ampati for six times left the people of the constituency in a lurch by deciding to resign and retain Songsak.
