COVID-19 active cases in Meghalaya stand at 154

Shillong, Jan 6: Meghalaya recorded 19 new COVID-19 cases and 14 persons recovered from the virus, taking the number of active cases to 154 and the total recoveries to 13230.

Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War informed that of the 19 new cases – 12 were recorded in East Khasi Hills district, six in West Jaintia Hills district and one in Ri-Bhoi district.

Dr. War said that of the 14 new recovered cases – 11 were recorded in East Khasi Hills, two in South West Garo Hills and one in West Garo Hills.

East Khasi Hills district remains the most affected with 116 active cases and 115 fatalities.

South West Khasi Hills district and South West Garo Hills district has no COVID-19 cases as of Wednesday even as South Garo Hills, East Garo Hills and North Garo Hills has one active cases each at present.

Till date a total of 3, 01, 969 persons have been tested for COVID-19 out of which 2, 88, 444 samples yielded negative results.

Dr. War also informed that till Wednesday afternoon, a total of 80, 135 persons have entered the state from various parts of the country and outside.

Till Wednesday afternoon a total number of 13525 cases have been detected in Meghalaya since the pandemic hit the state.
