COVID-19: Meghalaya records 22 new cases, 18 recoveries

Shillong, Jan 4: The state on Monday recorded 22 new COVID-19 cases and 18 recovered from the virus, health authorities informed.

Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War informed that with the latest figures, the number of active cases is now 139 and a total of 13204 persons have so far recovered from the viral infection.

Of the 22 new cases – 18 were recorded in East Khasi Hills, two in West Jaintia Hills and two in East Jaintia Hills.

Of the 18 recovered cases all were from East Khasi Hills (armed/ paramilitary forces – one, others – 17).

Dr. War also informed that the total number of persons tested for COVID-19 till date are 2, 98, 554 out of which 2, 85, 072 samples yielded negative results.

The Director of Health Services also informed that the state has so far recorded 13482 confirmed cases out of which 13204 have recovered, 139 are active cases and another 139 succumbed to the virus.

Dr. War also informed that a total of 50 persons are under institutional quarantine, 68 are under home quarantine/isolation. The state has 17 containment zones and the number of persons who have entered Meghalaya from other parts of the country and outside are 79, 273.

Dr. War also informed that the case fatality rate is 1.03 percent.
