Shillong, Dec 15: Meghalaya recorded another COVID-19 death taking the number of fatalities to 131, health authorities informed.
Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War informed that the deceased Basanti Das (54) of Oakland Road, Shillong was admitted to Shillong Civil Hospital and she tested COVID-19 positive on December 10 and expired on December 14 at 8:10 am.
Dr. War said that the cause of death was Cancer Tongue with Metastasis with COVID- 19 Pneumonia.
He also informed that the state recorded 66 new cases and 128 new recoveries, taking the number of active cases to 690 and the number of recovered cases stands at 12186.
Dr. War informed that of the 66 new cases, East Khasi Hills recorded 57 (armed/paramilitary forces – four and others 53), West Garo Hills – four (armed/paramilitary forces – one and others – three), East Jaintia Hills two, Ri-Bhoi – one, South Garo Hills – one and South West Garo Hills – one.
The Director of Health Services also informed that of the 128 new recovered cases – East Khasi Hills registered 112 (armed/paramilitary forces – 16 and others – 96), West Garo Hills – 11, South West Garo Hills – two, East Jaintia Hills – one, Ri-Bhoi – one and West Khasi Hills one.
He also informed that the number of samples tested for COVID-19 till date is 269808 out of which 256801 yielded negative results. Dr. War informed that the case fatality rate is one percent.
He also informed that a total of 71, 962 people entered the state from outside Meghalaya.
