COVID-19: Meghalaya records two more deaths, 347 new infections

Shillong, May 6: Meghalaya on Thursday recorded two Covid deaths, 347 new infections and 129 recovered cases.

With this the death count has risen to 193, there are 2351 active cases and a total of 16086 persons have recovered from the virus.

Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War informed that the two deaths recorded were that of Munni Ruddil Ahmed, (83) of Umsohphoh village in Nongpoh, Ri-Bhoi and Aroti Das (50) of Ichamati village, East Khasi Hills district.

of the 347 new cases East Khasi Hills recorded 177, Ri-Bhoi district 56, West Khasi Hills 23, West Garo Hills 22, South Garo Hills 20, East Jaintia Hills 14, West Jaintia Hills 11, East Garo Hills 10, South West Garo Hills seven, North Garo Hills four and South West Khasi Hills two.

Of the 2351 active cases, East Khasi Hills district is the most affected with 1464, Ri-Bhoi 240, West Garo Hills 172, East Jaintia Hills 104, West Khasi Hills 103, West Jaintia Hills 102, South  Garo Hills 47, East Garo Hills 40, South West Garo Hills 33, South West Khasi Hills and North Garo Hills 23 each.

Meanwhile, the total persons tested for the virus till date is 4,77,676 out of which 4,59,046 were negative and 18630 are confirmed cases.

Dr. War also informed that till date a total of 2,07,680 citizens of the state has been vaccinated against the virus.
