Shillong, Apr 20: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, informed the public that the total number of samples tested for COVID-19 in the state, till Monday, is 838 out of which results of 113 samples are still awaited. The total number of samples tested negative is 838 and the state currently has 10 active cases.
The Chief Minister revealed that all the 10 patients are stable and are all under home and institutional quarantine.
He said that the distribution of financial assistance under the CM’s special grant for Meghalaya Citizens stranded in different parts of the country has commenced.
“For this purpose we are categorising and there are different categories of workers, students, professionals and others. We have selected the workers first and as we speak the money for supporting them that is a lump sum amount of Rs.3000 has been given to 1617 people stranded in different parts of the country,” he said, adding that this process will start for students and professionals.
On the issue of deteriorating conditions of state ambulances, the chief minister reiterated that 25 ambulances have been procured using the funds collected through the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
“Apart from that some people have also raised concerns about the drivers who are delivering different essential commodities, and if they are being screened and tested. We are screening and testing them. We are also disinfecting the trucks and the vehicles that are coming in and that is also one of the reasons why sometimes there is delay in the transportation of products because these processes and protocols have to be followed,” the Chief Minister said.
