SHILLONG, Aug 22: Due to acute shortage of doctors during the COVID-19 pandemic, the state has asked all those students who have passed their MBBS degrees through government quota to serve the health department.
“They should report back to the Directorate or else we will be forced to give notice to pay the bonds,” Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman Warr said.
Dr. Warr said that the bond ranges from Rs. 10 lakh to Rs. 25 lakh.
The Director of Health Services said that these doctors should report within August.
“If not done so their names will be made public,” Dr. Warr warned.
According to him, the State now has approximately 50 MBBS students who have passed out students and are here working in some other hospitals.
Dr. Warr said that it will soon advertise for filling up of 120 vacancies.
