SHILLONG, Jul 8: The father of former Meghalaya Chief Minister, Dr Mukul Sangma passed away on Sunday morning.
According to reports Binoy Bhusan Marak was reportedly having food at home when he suddenly collapsed.
He was rushed to the emergency wing of Tura civil hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. He was 86.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister has condoled the death of Dr Sangma’s father.
“I am sad to know about the passing away of Binoy Bhusan Maji Marak . He had served the people of Meghalaya as an educationist,” Conrad said.
The Chief Minister said, “Marak was also one of the teachers who had contributed to our father Purno Agitok Sangma’s education. I and my family members are highly indebted for it.”
The Chief Minister said, our late father Purno Agitok Sangma had always spoken highly about his contribution to the society, particularly for the young students of Ampati area.
He also said, Marak’s dedicated services as a teacher will always be remembered. In his death, we have lost a fatherly figure, a teacher and a mentor for the young people.
“I deeply mourn Binoy Bhusan Maji Marak’s passing away. May the departed soul rest in peace,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) while expressing condolence and sympathies to the family members of the bereaved stated that it prays to the Almighty to grant eternal repose to the departed soul.
“The PCC also prays to the Almighty to give strength and solace to the bereaved family in this hour of sorrow and darkness, so that they may bear this irreparable loss,” a statement by MPCC general secretary Dr Manash Das Gupta said.
