Shillong, Nov 6: Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong today warned people instigating communal tension through social media or other platforms, adding that the government will take strict action against non-compliance.
The Deputy Chief Minister urged the citizens of the state to let the state government handle the situation, adding that he believes there is a political motive behind the issue.
The government is there to handle this situation and to take care that the citizens of the state of Meghalaya – be it non-tribal or tribal. The responsibility of the government is to make sure both are safe and we stay safe and we work and grow together,” he said.
He asked people outside the state, specifically West Bengal, not to add fire to the alleged reports of discrimination in Ichamati.
He said that all communities in the state have lived peacefully and that the solution is ‘not in Kolkata’ or outside the borders of the state.
He added that the state government also discussed the allegations of non-renewal or issuance of fresh licenses to non-tribals with the KHADC and asked them to do the needful.
