Shillong, Sept 17: Meghalaya Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui today inaugurated an international webinar conducted by Sankardev College and English Language Teachers’ Association of India (ELTAI) as on “Continuing Professional Development for Teachers.”
He said that the education sector has suffered due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, and so it was time to reflect on what can be done.
The Education Minister stressed that digital learning is an important asset and said that without technology the sector would have suffered more.
“In the last 6 months, the way the institution, faculty, the students and parents, and all associated with the education sector are trying to innovate and reach out so that the student community and sector will not suffer,” he said in his inaugural speech.
However, he also mentioned that the pandemic has proved that the world is still not ready to fully utilise technology, due to connectivity issues, deficiency in resource persons, lack of technological know-how on the part of many academic scholars and lecturers.
He lauded the efforts of Sankardev College on the release of their publication titled “Reflections” which documents various activities by students and staff during the pandemic.
