Briefing the media after the second sitting of the Committee, Deputy Chief Minister, Prestone Tynsong said, “The Directorate of Land records and Survey have been asked to complete the survey work within ten days after receiving the letter from the Urban Affairs department.”
“We have asked the department to conduct the survey since there are very little information about the area when it comes to survey maps,” the Deputy Chief Minister said.
Tynsong said that as of now there is information that some of the area is under the Municipal Corporation and the rest under the Syiem of Mylliem.
Further, the Deputy Chief Minister said, the Committee is also collecting information on the number of 4th grade employees, working in various departments and are residents of the area.
It was informed that the last agreement was entered between the Syiem of Mylliem and the residents in 1954 for utilizing two plots of land in the area by the Shillong Municipal Board.
According to Tynsong, one of the agreements was for housing the sweepers’ quarters and the other agreement was for construction of a shopping complex in the area.
Moreover, he informed that none of these clauses were implemented.
