SHILLONG, Aug 8: The Cabinet today approved to have a ceiling of upto Rs 40 lakh for vehicles of the Governor and the Chief Minister even as it enhanced the price limit of the vehicles to be allotted to VIPs and officials of the state government.
Informing media persons on Wednesday, Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong said that in the past there was no limit especially for the price of vehicles used by the Governor and Chief Minister.
Defending the move of the state government, Tynsong said, “Enhancing the price limit for VIPs and officials will not send any wrong message to the people of the state. This will instead send good message, because earlier, there was no price limit, and now, we have put a ceiling on the price limit for purchase of vehicles.”
Tynsong further informed that the cabinet has decided to enhance the price limit of vehicles of the the Deputy Chief Minister, Cabinet Ministers and Chief Secretary from the existing Rs 15 lakh to Rs 20 lakh.
The price limit for the vehicles allotted to the Additional Chief Secretary, Director General of Police, Principal Secretary, Principal Chief Conservator of Forest has been enhanced from the existing Rs 10 lakh to Rs 12 lakh.
Meanwhile, prices of vehicles allotted to the Commissioner Secretary and all officers of the All India Services has been enhanced to Rs 10 lakh.
The price limit of vehicles of the Secretary, Deputy Commissioners and Inspector General of Police is upto Rs 9 Lakh.
The price of vehicles allotted to Head of Departments has been enhanced to Rs 7.5 lakh and district level officers to Rs 7 lakh.
