Shillong, Feb 7: The State government on Sunday reduced the prices of petrol and diesel by Rs. 2.
Deputy Chief Minister, Prestone Tynsong informed that this decision was taken under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister, Conrad Sangma.
Tynsong informed that, the reduced rates will be effective from midnight of Monday.
According to the Deputy Chief Minister, the decision to reduce the prices of petrol and diesel, was taken in order to maintain the price differential with Assam and to offer relief to the consumers within the state.
“So I would like to request the concerned stakeholders to co-operate with the government and the indefinite strike called by the joint action committee to call off immediately,” Tynsong urged.
It may be mentioned that several organisations of commercial vehicles including taxi drivers and owners are on an indefinite strike since February 3.
Due to the strike people and those in small businesses have been facing tremendous hardship for the past few days.
