Shillong, Mar 8: Chief Minister Conrad Sangma today stated that the state government is taking all steps to urge upon the Government of India to implement ILP in the state of Meghalaya and also give assent to the Meghalaya Residents Safety and Security (Amendment) Bill, 2020.
He made the statement during his reply to the Zero Hour Notice called by Nongpoh MLA Mayralborn Syiem on Day 2 of the Budget Session.
The Chief Minister added that the government has taken aa serious view on the issue of implementation ILP in the state.
“In response to the demands of various NGOs in the state for the implementation of ILP, the State Government has held series of meetings with NGOs and various committees were constituted to find out solutions to solve the problem of influx,” he said.
He also reminded that during the visit of Union Home Minister Amit Shah to the state on February 23rd this year, aa memorandum was submitted in which the matter relating to the demand for implementation of ILP was also included.
Conrad added that the State Government is awaiting the response of the central government on the matter.
