Shillong, Dec 7: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Tuesday said the state government would soon hold consultation with all stakeholders including political parties for their views and opinions on the findings of the three regional committees on interstate boundary dispute.
Speaking to media persons, Sangma informed that one of the regional committees (headed by PHE Minister Renikton Lyngdoh Tongkhar) will be submitting its report on Wednesday.
Subsequently, the other two regional committees will be submitting their respective reports in a day or two, he added.
Post submission of the reports by the three committees, the chief minister said he would call all stakeholders including political parties for their views and opinions before the next meeting of the two Chief Ministers.
“Consultation will be done and discussion will be done with different stakeholders and post that we will finally have a meeting once again with the Assam government,” he said.
Earlier, the regional committee for East Jaintia Hills District headed by Urban Affairs Minister Sñiawbhalang Dhar had sought time to submit its report till December 15.
When asked, the Chief Minister said that both the state governments of Meghalaya and Assam are trying to resolve the areas of difference in six locations before December 25.
“We are hopeful in some of the six areas we should be able to resolve some of them or we may not be able to resolve them, we cannot say but we are giving it an effort to try to resolve it before December 25,” he stated.
Sangma however added, “All indications show that there is a possibility that some areas within the six areas may be possible to resolve before Christmas but one can’t say as it is a process, we cannot simply say and push that it has to be before December 25.”
“It looks like we are seeing positive indications coming out and we are hopeful that we are able to find some way forward in some of the areas but again as I said it all depends on the reports and depends on the discussions that will take place in the next few weeks,” he further asserted.
