Shillong, Mar 18: PHE Minister Renikton Lyngdoh Tongkhar today, in the course of his reply during question hour, stated that the government intends to complete Greater Shillong Water Supply Scheme Phase III by the next financial year.
He informed that additional funds to the tune of Rs 65.57 crores are required to complete the project, of which Rs 12.5 crores has been sanctioned through special assistance from the Government of India.
On supplementary questions by Mawlai MLA PT Sawkmie regarding central and state share of the scheme, the minister stated that the central share is 90 percent amounting to Rs 174 crores.
The state share, he informed, is 10 percent and that Rs 19 crores has been invested by the government in the last 10 years.
The minister added that 72 percent work is completed and the scheme will operationalise on the 50th year anniversary of the state.
