Shillong, Sept 25: In the last 24 hours, heavy rainfall, landslide and flash floods have affected twenty-nine villages across four districts in Meghalaya, a statement from the State Disaster Management Authority revealed.
According to the statement almost 1000 people have suffered the brunt of the calamity. 70 people have been evacuated and 100 persons are currently placed in relief camps.
Two houses have been severely damaged and nine houses partially.
Meanwhile, National Highway 44E, Bynther 47 km, Nongspung at 9 km, Nongstoin-Rongjeng-Tura Road, NH 127 (B), Suspension Bridge under Mairang Block have been damaged, the statement read.
As of the time of this report, the death toll in the past 24 hours stands at 7.
