SHILLONG, Feb 7: Lone BJP, Minister in the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) coalition, AL Hek today said that the demand for stripping James Sangma of the Home portfolio has been discussed by the Cabinet.
Speaking to media persons, Hek said that the Cabinet Minister has spoken out during Cabinet meetings and not only in private.
“In the Cabinet we had demanded from the Chief Minister to take away the Home portfolio from James Sangma or go for reshuffle,” the Health and Family Welfare Minister said.
According to him, most of the Ministers in the MDA Cabinet wants the Chief Minister to use the power bestowed upon him.
When asked, what would the happen if the Chief Minister, Conrad Sangma fails to listen to the grievances of the Cabinet Ministers and whether it will affect the stability of the government, Hek said that at present such thing does not arise as yet.
When asked what is the BJP’s stand on corruption, and the alleged illegal transportation of coal, Hek said that the party will wait for the investigation by the CBI which was directed by the Meghalaya Lokayukta.
“For now we will wait for the truth to be revealed after the investigation is over,” the Health and family Welfare Minister said.
