In preparation for 2022 National Games Banteidor inspects proposed sites for stadiums

SHILLONG, May 30: State Sports Minister, Banteidor Lyngdoh went on an inspection of lands in Mawkynrew and Nongkrem constituency where stadiums are proposed to be built.

In the first instance, Lyngdoh visited Kharang village in Mawkynrew constituency where a stadium has been proposed to be built in an area of about 80 acres donated by the villagers.

The Sports Minister also visited Thangsning village to inspect the land donated by the Church of God for building a sporting infrastructure for the National Games 2022.

Later, Lyngdoh also visited Umphyrnai (Nongkrem Constituency) and he was accompanied by Nongkrem legislator Lambor Malngiang.

“We still have time to make the infrastructures ready and I am confident that line departments like PWD, PHE, Tourism will join hands to build these stadiums and sporting arenas”, the Sports Minister said.

“I know it is not an easy task but we have officers who will work together with the government so that our objectives become successful,” he added.

The Sports Minister also said that he did not want these sporting infrastructures to become deserted venues after the National games in 2022 but they should become centres to hone the skills of sportpersons of the state.
