Rymbui stated that budget was allocated to the programme however sanctioning depends on the availability of funds and added that the government will sanction an amount for this year.
Congress MLA George Lyngdoh informed the house that there were instances of encroachment in villages sharing borders with Assam and this programme should receive more funds.
Rymbui responded stating that other line departments, other than Border Areas Development also does developmental work in the interstate border.
He said only Rs 39.58 crores were sanctioned to the department since Meghalaya’s inception, but the government has done more developmental work through other departments.
