Langrin bypoll: UDP retains MDC post
Shillong, Mar 3: UDP MLA Pius Marweiñ today won the 26 Langrin MDC by-election by defeating his nearest Congress rival Jotin Khardewsaw by over 6979 votes.
The UDP legislator secured a total of 13,821 votes. His closest rival of the Congress, Jotin, got 6,842 votes and NPP candidate Kitborlang Nongrem polled 3,222 votes.
The by-election was held on February 28 last.
It may be reminded, the by-election was necessitated following the death of UDP MDC Nassar Marweiñ on October 28 last year.
Returning Officer, H.S. Diengdoh handed over the certificate of election to the winning candidate.
