Law will take its course: Dy CM

Shillong, May 5: In a shocking incident, few villagers from East Khasi Hills’ Mawpyrthuh village allegedly caught a bear on Monday. Pictures of the incident has, since then, gone viral on social media.

In the pictures, four men can be seen holding the bear. A caption in Khasi says that the bear was caught by villagers of Mawpyrthuh in Pynursla area, East Khasi Hills on May 4.

However, the authenticity of the pictures could not be confirmed.

Speaking on the incident, Deputy Chief Minister, Prestone Tynsong said that the persons will be dealt under the Wildlife Act of the centre as well as the state government.

“We will let the law take its own course,” the Deputy Chief Minister said.

Tynsong also suggested that if people come across such cases they should file a FIR and the authorities will take action accordingly.
