Lockdown extended in Ri-Bhoi district

Shillong, Jun 12: In view of the high positivity rate in Ri-Bhoi district, the district administration has extended the lock down from 5 am of June 14 till 5 am of June 21.

Ri-Bhoi Deputy Commissioner, R. M. Kurbah said that this has been done to to safe guard the state and the district in particular from an uncontrollable surge in COVID-19 cases.

Kurbah said that rate of COVID – 19 cases is still high in Ri Bhoi district and there is a significant spread in rural areas.

“The situation of COVID -19 in the district and in the state has been reviewed and it has been observed, that the positivity rate is still very high, the situation is still precarious, for which adequate containment measures for both urban and rural areas are still necessary for containment of COVID 19 across the district,” the Deputy Commissioner said.
