Lok Sabha Poll: Mukul Sangma to be Lok Sabha candidate from Tura, Pala from Shillong

Shillong, Mar 13: The All India Congress Committee on Wednesday announced former Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma as the party candidate from Tura Lok Sabha seat.

The AICC has also declared the name of sitting MP Vincent H. Pala from Shillong Parliamentary constituency.

Their candidature was approved immediately after the sitting of screening committee at the party’s head office in New Delhi.

Dr Mukul Sangma, an opposition leader in the Meghalaya Legislative Assembl was elected MLA from Songsak constituency in East Garo Hills district.

Speaking to this reporter over the phone from New Delhi, Dr Mukul said, “I have said yes for the interest of the state and the party.”

“I have accepted the request of the AICC leaders though I have not applied for party ticket,” he added.

He also said that it’s time for everybody to come together and save the nation from the disastrous force.

The former chief minister who is also the chairman of the North East Congress Coordination Committee (NECCC) informed that the AICC has also approved the name of sitting MP as the candidate from Shillong seat.
