Shillong, Mar 1: Mairang MLA and Speaker of the Meghalaya Assembly, Metbah Lyngdoh has said that the creation of new districts in the state including Mairang Civil Sub Division is in the offing.

“Creation of new districts is very much in the agenda of the MDA government particularly upgradation of Mairang Civil Sub Division. It deserves to be upgraded to a district,” the Mairang legislator said.
Lyngdoh also informed that apart from Mairang there are other sub divisions which will be upgraded to districts.
The Assembly Speaker said that the new districts are to be created at the earliest.
He also informed that the Mairang Civil Sub Division will consist of the two constituencies of Mairang and Mawthadraishan which are presently in West Khasi Hills district.
Lyngdoh said that since West Khasi Hills district is a huge area the creation of a new district will bring the administration closer to the people.
