SHILLONG, June 28: The public health centre (PHC) at Mawlasnai is running without a doctor for the last six years.
The issue of non-availability of doctors was reported by the public during the surprise inspection of the newly elected MDC Charles Marngar yesterday.
According to Marngar, the absence of doctors for six years now has caused immense hardship to the people of the area.
“Due to non availability of doctors in the PHC, people have to go to Bhoirymbong CHC or Shillong for treatmen,” the local MDC said.
Presently, the health centre is equipped with only one Ayush doctor and other staff.
Marngar also said, the Mawlasnai PHC caters to the medical needs of over 20 villages including those falling under Block-II area in Ri Bhoi.
