Shillong, Dec 11: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Wednesday informed that on that he would be leading a delegation of ministers to New Delhi to meet Union Home Minister, Amit Shah.
The Chief Minister said he along with members of MDA will be meeting Shah on Thursday evening and to press on the issue to exempt Meghalaya from CAB.
“Our demand and our request from the government of India is to find provisions and keeping strengthening so that more insulation can be given to the people,” the Chief Minister said.
When asked to comment on the issue of ILP, he said that the state already has the Meghalaya Residents Safety and Security Act (MRSSA), which is a mechanism which will serve the same purpose as ILP.
“We are working on the Meghalaya Residents Safety and Security Act. It is something which has been widely discussed and stakeholders have come on board on this. So we are working to get this moving,” Conrad said.
The Chief Minister added that if the provisions of the MRSSA are put into place then it will have the same impact as the ILP.
