Shillong, May 1: Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong, on Friday, informed that the state government has tested 1629 samples till date out of which 1557 tested negative. The result of around 60 samples are awaited.
He also informed that out of the 11 active COVID-19 cases reported in the state, 10 patients have recovered. The sample of the 11th patient has also come out negative and the result of the retest is being awaited.
“More or less, I should say for the last person, it will be negative. We have no new positive case…we are free from COVID-19,” the Deputy Chief Minister said.
During the briefing, Tynsong also said that a review meeting was held regarding continuation of mining post the lockdown. He informed that licensed companies and organisations mining major and minor minerals can resume their activities.
Following the lockdown, the government has also decided to allow resumption of inter district movement for public transportation for the entire state, except Shillong agglomeration, where there will be partial restrictions.
“The system will be worked out by the District Commissioners and District Transport Office,” he said.
The state government has also decided to reopen industries in Byrnihat, Umiam, and West Khasi Hills from Monday. In the case of Cement Industries, Tynsong said that they will have to submit details of their working plan including where they plan on getting their materials from. “Decision will be taken accordingly after submission of details,” he added.
Regarding transportation of stranded persons outside the state, he said that government will prescribe protocols tomorrow after a meeting is held to discuss the same. “Tomorrow we are going to notify the registration forms for those who are willing to contact and numbers will be available tomorrow,” he said.
