Shillong, Apr 8: Meghalaya Chief Minister’s Relief Fund received donations amounting to Rs 2,64,60,743 till April 7, 2020. This information was collaborated from Meghalaya CMO’s official Facebook Page. However, this data excludes amount directly transferred to the Relief Fund’s account and not mentioned in the official CMO Page.
On March 25th 2020, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma appealed to citizens to donate to Meghalaya Chief Minister’s Relief Fund in order to ensure necessary aid during the nation-wide lockdown placed to tackle the COVID-19 Pandemic.
On April 7, 2020 itself, the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund received a total of Rs 29,32,501 as donation.
This includes Rs 3 Lakh, 10 thousand from Congregation of Our Lady of The Missions, St. Mary’s Convent, Shillong, Rs 1501 from Mayan’s piggy bank, Rs 4 Lakh from S.S NetCom Private Ltd, Rs 1 Lakh from Nongthymmai Presbyterian Church and Rs 1 Lakh, 10 thousand from Unitarian Union North East India.
Ferndale Apartment Society, Shillong donated Rs 2 Lakh, 11 thousand, Manoj Kumar Lunia & Lunia Marketing Private Limited donated Rs 11 lakh, Shillong Muslim Union and Shillong Dadhich Parishad donated Rs 1 Lakh each.
Meanwhile, Meghalaya Finance Service Association donated two days salary which amounted to Rs 2 Lakh and Shillong Archdiocese contributed Rs. 3 Lakh towards the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for COVID-19.
On April 6, 2020, Dr R.M Manih, B. L Mawlong and Union Christian College contributed Rs 1 Lakh, 25 thousand to the Chief Minister’s Fund. Reverend S. S Majaw, Dr. R. M Lyngdoh and Synod College, Shillong donated Rs 2 Lakh. Diocese of Jowai donated Rs 3 Lakh. This brings the total to Rs 6,25,000.
The Chief Minister’s Office Facebook Page revealed that on April 5, 2020, CMJ Breweries donated Rs 1 Crore towards the CM’s Relief Fund.
Interestingly on April 4, 2020, Mukesh and Nita Ambani & Relaince Industries Limited contributed Rs 1 Crore to Meghalaya Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
Tura Baptist Church on April 3, 2020 donated Rs 1 Lakh. On the same day, Rongara Siju MLA, Rakkam A. Sangma donated Rs 1 Lakh to the Relief Fund.
On April 2, 2020, Jengjal Baptist Church, Tura donated Rs 20,000 and the United Churches’ Association, Tura donated Rs 50,000. Meghalaya Rural Bank donated Rs. 6,93,242 and St Anthony’s College, Shillong donated Rs 5 Lakh.
It was revealed that Jirang MLA, Sosthenes Sohtun donated 1 month’s salary amounting to Rs 2 Lakh on April 1, 2020. Himanshu and Manjusha Jain contributed Rs 5 Lakh to the CM’s Relief Fund.
Agatha Sangma, Tura MP donated 1 month salary of Rs 1 Lakh on March 31st, 2020. Rajya Sabha MP Wansuk Syiem also donated her 1 month salary of Rs 1 Lakh, 10 thousand.
On March 30, 2020, Shillong Lok Sabha MP donated his 1 month salary of Rs 1 Lakh to the CM’s Relief Fund. A•Chik Baptist Krima XII, Shillong donated Rs. 30,000, Seiñ Raij Jowai donated Rs 1 Lakh and Father John Madur and the Catholic Association of Meghalaya donated Rs 3 Lakh towards the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to fight COVID-19 Pandemic.
