Meghalaya tests 2287 samples, 2178 -ve, 96 results awaited
Shillong, May 9: Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong, on Saturday, informed that the state has tested a total of 2287 samples for COVID-19, out of which 2178 have tested negative.
The total number of persons tested positive for Coronavirus is 13, of which 10 patients have recovered. The state currently has 2 active cases and has recorded 1 death.
It was informed that 7020 people are currently under home quarantine and 116 are under institutional quarantine.
Meanwhile, he also informed that till 3 pm today, 2623 stranded Meghalaya Citizens have returned home.
The citizens entered through 4 designated checkpoints; 1058 from Bajengdoba, 177 from Tikrikila, 330 from Ratacherra, and 878 from Byrnihat.
According to the statement from the Chief Minister’s Office, the government is currently focused on bringing back stranded citizens from Assam.
In the initial phase, citizens stranded in Kamrup (Metro & Rural), Sonitpur, Biswanath, Cachar and Tinsukia were brought in, they said.
Stranded persons in Kokrajhar, Karimganj, Hojai, Dima Haso, Dibrugarh, Sibsagar, Hailakandi and Dhanaji are being brought in today, the statement added.
Further, it was informed that transportation of those stranded in other districts of Assam and other Northeast states will follow shortly.
