Meghalaya detects 20 new COVID-19 cases

Shillong, Feb 4: After a dip in fresh COVID-19 cases in Meghalaya in the last few days, there was a sudden spike of new cases on Thursday.

According to Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War the state saw 20 new cases and nine recovered from the virus.

With the latest figures, the number of active cases has gone up to 63 and the total recovered cases stands at 13, 584.

Of the new cases, 19 were recorded in East Khasi Hills and one in South West Garo Hills, while all the nine recovered cases were from East Khasi Hills district.

East Khasi Hills district still remains the most affected with 53 active cases.

As of Thursday afternoon a total number of 3, 41, 580 persons have been tested for COVID-19 out of which 3, 27, 786 tested negative for the virus.

Since restrictions on travelling were eased a total number of 89, 027 have entered the state till Thursday afternoon.
