Shillong, Jul 24: Meghalaya government has decided to re- impose total lockdown from Monday to Wednesday in Shillong agglomeration considering the spike in COVID-19 cases.
Informing this, Deputy Chief Minister, Prestone Tynsong said that this was decided in the review meeting held today after gathering inputs and suggestions from the health department.
He said that the State government is concerned about the spike in cases and wants to make sure that there is no community spread and hence the decision.
10 areas under containment zone in Shillong
The Deputy Chief Minister also announced the list of containment zones which includes, Mawbah, Jhalupara, Upper Mawprem, Mawlai Umshing, Mawlai Umjaiur, Nongrim Hills, Laitumkhrah Nazareth, Golf Links Khliehshnong, Lachumiere, Nongrah.
Tynsong said that the lockdown was necessary to allow health workers to make sure that they go aggressively and complete contact tracing. He requested everyone to co-operate with the health workers.
