Meghalaya Govt lifts restriction on Inter-District movement


Shillong, June 1: Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong, on Monday, informed that the state government has decided to lift restriction on inter district movement for public in view of the relaxation made by the government of India. 

He said that 50% private and public transportation were allowed to move between districts including in Shillong Urban Agglomeration. “The district commissioner and transport department will work out an odd and even number system,” he added. 

Further, he stated that the government has decided to open up more shops with regulations in the capital, however, barber shops, salons, beauty parlour will remain closed. 

On a question regarding opening of religious gatherings and institutions, the Deputy CM said that they are still reviewing the matter. 

Tynsong also informed that the government has decided to allow students who returned to the state to go back to their institutions to appear for their exams.
