Meghalaya Govt to bear railway fare for all stranded citizens

Shillong, May 14: Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister Preston’s Tynsong, on Thursday, announced that the government will bear transport charges for all stranded citizens who are returning home by rail.

During the review meet held earlier today, he also informed that the government has decided to install three more Screening Centres/ Check-Points for COVID-19 at Tura ISBT in Garo Hills, Thadlaskein in Jaintia Hills and Polo Grounds, Shillong, East Khasi Hills.

The Deputy CM urged all parents and family members of the stranded individuals not to go beyond Byrnihat Check Point to receive their wards. The stranded persons will be arriving through trains and stop at Guwahati Railway Station.

He also informed that 873 people will reach home on Friday evening, from different parts of the country.
